If you have been following us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, you may have noticed a few debbie downer status updates over the last couple of days, and that's because we had a bomb dropped on us on Friday. So we spent the weekend feeling sorry for ourselves, hibernating, and drinking copious amounts of wine, but now it's a new week and time for a fresh start! First we will fill you in on what went down last week...
We got to work on Friday morning armed with cans of chartruese paint and a bunch of ideas for the new shop that we were ready to start tackling! However, that came to a sudden hault when we had a brief meeting with the owner of the building, who is also the landlord. At the beginning of the meeting he was fully on board with our ideas and even went as far as to offer suggestions on how to better our new space, but five minutes later he changed his tune. He basically decided on his own, without consulting us, that we won't be moving anymore, even though our grand opening day was
less than 2 weeks away!!!
We tried to reason with him, but it was obvious that he had already made up his mind. We sat there with our mouths on the floor and tears in our eyes in total shock of what had just happened. We're still in shock. How could he do this to us so close to our opening? We had a million thoughts and questions racing through our minds so we decided to take the weekend off to collect our thoughts.
So here we are, ready to make the best of this situation and perhaps take this as an opportunity to start fresh. We realize that everything happens for a reason, and this clearly wasn't in the cards for us. Even though we are still disappointed, we are trying to stay positive and focus on what new and exciting things our future will hold! We are in the process of looking for a new space of our own, which has always been our long-term goal, so this just pushes us harder to get there. This will also push us to open our online shop sooner! We will keep you posted on the progress in the coming weeks!

Oh no! I am sorry for what happened. I was really looking forward to seeing pictures of before and after of the making of the store!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you ladies will find something soon!!!

GOOD LUCK that really does suck... but I believe there is a reason for everything and the place that opens up for you.. will be so amazing you will be SUPER glad for this adversity! ♥ ♥ --JeNeal@Pieces of Luv
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer!
ReplyDeleteThat guy sucks, do you want me to run him over with my trailer?
Oh gosh ladies, that is so uncool of him. It can be so difficult to understand peoples motives and process. However, if this guy makes snap decisions like this perhaps it's for the best. Who knows what it would have been like to rent from him, right? A bad landlord, especially in a business setting, can be a total nightmare. Your dream space is out there waiting for you. Perhaps it just needs a little time to vacate its current renters :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about this...
ReplyDeleteBoo! That's is so unfair - not cool at all. I agree with all the above comments, there are great things coming down the pipe for you - something even better! Keep your chin up and feel free to dip into the wine whenever needed :)

fingers crossed for you..
loving you from afar, my dears! so many hugs, miss you much. xox
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, girls!
ReplyDeleteEverything happens for a reason though, I'm sure something will figure itself out.
sounds like you are better off without a landlord like this, you may have actually dodged a bullet here. i know its easier to say that than to live through this, but i'm sure this will only bring you new, better opportunities for your shop. once you launch the online shop i'm sure you'll feel more in control of the situation. you can't control other people's choices, but as long as you're doing something to work towards your goal you'll feel much better. i have setbacks as a musician all the time, but i usually just use them as a chance to make a new change or discover new inspiration. it's not easy, but it helps! good luck, ladies! you deserve all the good things that are sure to come your way.

Aww, I'm so sorry that happened. :( But you guys seem to have such a positive attitude about it anyway, which is so awesome. You're right, every single little thing happens for a reason, and what happens next will be better than it would've been before. {hugs} So many similar things have happened for me as well, as an aspiring opera singer, it is SO tough when things just completely screw up. But those eventually turn into opportunities or better situations. {hugs} Keep your chins up! Can't wait for the online shop! :)

ReplyDeleteAww. Sad news indeed, but everything does happen for a reason. You will find an amazing space without a constant mind changing landlord & ya'll will do wonders with it! Good luck! Hope ya'll feel better soon...
ReplyDeleteOh noooo! It totally sucks to hear this! I'm so sorry ladies! But sounds like he would've been a lot more trouble later on, so perhaps this was for the best. Life has an odd way of guiding as to the right direction, even when it feels quite the opposite - but bombs like this are never easy to digest. I'm sending you heaps and heaps of good thoughts!
ReplyDeleteGood freakin lord! what the hell? I think we should get together for coffee....

Oh, wow! I can't believe he could do something like this! I'm sorry ... But it's true, everything happens for a reason. Plus, imagine dealing with such a piece of crap in the long term! Best luck in finding another place! ;) Have a good week!

WHAT?! That's terrible of him. But it's true, these things do always happen for a a reason so I'm sure something even better will come your way. I have had all sorts of dramas with potential landlords and real estate agents too... very frustrating!
ReplyDeleteYou are so inspiring girls! There is always something better just around the corner. Stay positive.
ReplyDeleteSophie
I'm so sorry to hear that girls. But you are so right about it pushing you closer to your ultimate goal of your own shop, and I'm sure everything will work out <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your bad news ladies! But like you said, everything happens for a reason. Plus if you could get your own shop, you could make it just as beautiful as you like!! Wishing you all the love and luck in the world for finding a solution! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh no! This is terrible. I'm so sorry. I hope you can find your own shop soon so as not to have to deal with such things anymore.
ReplyDeleteBetter now than later. Imagine if you guys have gone through all the setting up process and he dropped the bomb right there? Cheer up and smile, remember you guys rock and you are inspiring some peeps like me. I understand you guys completely, just as I was about to pay for all my permits for the setting up of my trailer business, some family members dropped a nasty bomb and the money needs to be used for something else. It suuucks so much, but I think there's some other options, and maybe it just wasn't the time. I'm positive good things are coming for you, because you make many people like me smile.
ReplyDeleteMuch Puerto Rican love and tropical kisses,

If you had already signed a lease and if you spent any money printing brochures, cards, etc. you should take his butt to small claims court. People need to spend a little more time thinking of others in this day and age. Well, wherever you go, your fans will follow!
ReplyDeleteThat is not cool. sorry about the bad news. Hopefully this did happen for the right reasons!
ReplyDeleteDoes Vintage Glory need to move out too, or was it the owner of Vintage Glory who decided you can't move in with him?
ReplyDelete(I am a little confused....would you be able to clarify?)
So sorry this happened to you lovely ladies. I was really looking forward to visiting you in your new shop!
Sorry to hear. You just have to know that it is for the best. I am sure you ladies will come up with something amazing.

So sorry friends!! It will get better! Xo
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that! Those of us that love your store will keep coming regardless of where it is..things will work out in the end!!!
ReplyDeleteI am SO sorry! That just bums me out but you are right, everything does happen for a reason and I have a feeling that something truly fabulous will come out of this. Keep your chins up ladies!
ReplyDeleteOh no! As everyone else is saying, I'm so sorry! I hope you guys get a space of your own and conquer it! I definitely think you will!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear this. A friend of mine just went through the exact same thing. He wanted to move his bar in NYC, which required hours of community board meetings on top of all of the regular real estate hooha. He goes through all of the meetings and gets approval, only to have the landlord back out on the day he was to sign the lease.
ReplyDeleteAs you said these things happen for a reason. This just wasn't your space. I hope you find your real one soon.
Oh no! Im sorry to hear this news but like you have said - things happen for a reason. It just means you'll have a better new space soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about that. Such a disappointment. Good luck from now on and i hope everything will turn out great. Maybe all this is for the best. :-)
ReplyDeleteI was in a similar situation before I opened my shop. Please keep in mind what ye already said, everything happens for a reason. It really does. Chin up girls, I think a bigger and better door is opening xxx

ReplyDeleteI am SO sorry ladies!! You've worked so hard on this. I can't believe a person would do something like that to you... But something better will come for you 2! Hang in there and good luck on your future plans!
