Introducing......The Good Box Gifts

Well, well, well, it's been a long long time yet again. So much has changed yet again since we last showed our faces around these parts, but we'll save that for another day when we aren't as busy as we are right this moment!

We have some pretty exciting news that we just had to share with you guys! We finally launched our new business! We've been working on it for the past few months, and have been working super hard to get it up and running before Christmas. We are selling thoughtfully-made, well curated gift boxes for every occasion. We source everything from here in Canada, and are blown away at how many incredible makers there are in this country! We also have an online store of individual items that we carry in the boxes that you can buy on there own, in case you want to try it out, or can't decide on a box quite yet!

Online shop update & other news!

Well hello there old friends! Oh boy, it's been another couple of months since you've seen any sign of us. To say things have been busy would be an understatement. For now the blog is being put on the back burner until things calm down even more. We are happy to report that things are good to the home front! Lots has changed since we were last regularly posting, and we will update you guys as soon as we are ready. Until then, thanks for continuing to check in on us around these parts. It means a lot. Alright, without further ado, here's a look at what I've (Erin) been keep somewhat busy with - a big shop update!

This is a piece I had in my mind for the past year, and this past month I finally got to see it to fruition with the help of my crazy talented sister, Megan of Margot Pollo. I will be making more of them with Meg on Saturday and will be adding more sizes to the shop by Sunday night.

Of course I had to make more of these Coach Taylor sweatshirts too!

These prints on fabric look so great framed or just pinned up! Coming to the shop later today!

 Today I will be adding a wonderful selection of vintage clothes to the shop! If you're in need of a new piece for Spring, come and check out the bold patterns and brightly coloured dresses that I have in store!

I've also loaded up the vintage housewares section, and it's full of super fun, kitschy pieces like the swan measuring cups!

Popping up all over the place.

Why hello there strangers. We know we keep saying we're coming back, but this time around we mean it! Things will be pretty busy over here until the end of May but we'll start making time to blog again slowly. In the past two weeks we had a very successful two day pop up shop and then right after that we moved everything that was left in the store (which was a lot) up to our studio on the third floor. Now we're preparing for one last event here which is happening on three Saturday's now! For the next three Saturday's we will be opening the doors to our studio because literally everything has to go! May 2 from 10 am - 3 pm, May 9 and 16 from 10 am - 5 pm! Where's our studio you ask? Well, it's above our old shop in the Bate building, 221 McDermot Ave on the third floor. Just follow the signs all the way up and you'll find us. We have a tonne of clothes (some new and lots of vintage) lots of amazing housewares, some furniture and lots of accessories and other random knick knacks. There is something for everyone!

One last hurrah in the studio before we move out in the middle of the month!

Information overload.

Well pals, A LOT has happened this week. We have been keeping a secret for the past two or three months and were going to announce it this week, but we kind of got the rug pulled out from underneath on that one. What we were going to tell you was that we were going to re-open our shop Rhymes With Orange, at the same address but using only half of the space starting mid-April. We were going to sign the lease this last week for a year, but that has fallen through. So, new plan...re-do our blog, build a new huge online shop, and continue to do pop up shops once a month at various locations! Still very exciting, and we are ready for a change, we're just still wrapping our heads around the idea that shop will be closed forever...

Speaking of the shop, we are having a pop up shop in just over two weeks for the last time at our old store.

April 17 & 18 from 11 am until 6 pm 

at Rhymes With Orange, 223 McDermot Ave in Winnipeg.

We have started selling off furniture and fixtures on kijiji, but whatever we haven't sold by then will be available for purchase on the 17th and 18th. All of those lamps and radios and tables that you guys tried to buy over the past few years but we weren't selling at the time? Well it's your lucky day!

You can go to our Facebook page for photos of what is all available on Kijiji right now. The links with prices and measurements will be underneath the photos. We will continually add more the the list, so keep checking back! If it doesn't say sold underneath, it's still available!

We're so sad to part with these beauties :(

In other exciting news, we will be getting rid of our studio as of June 1, and I (Erin) will be moving into a 2 bedroom that we will also be running our business out of! I am trying to get rid of at least 1/3 of my stuff before June 1, so today I added a bunch of really great stuff to Thought Shapes under the housewares and vintage clothing sections, so go and check it out!

I will also be having a garage sale at the studio on Saturday, May 16th from 10 am until 5 pm. You can go here for more info. Mark it on your calendars! It will be the last time we have an event at the studio, and it's going to be a good one!

One more thing: have you guys heard of/tried the wonderful app called "Whurl" yet? Insert obvious pun to go and give it a whirl if you haven't yet! I posted a bunch of other stuff that I am selling over there and you can follow me, just search "ohsolovelyerin". The idea of the app is genius and quite simple- for all of you vintage lovers out there on the hunt for that perfect vintage piece but you haven't had any luck finding it, you just post a picture of what you are looking for and let the whirl community do the rest! Did you see something in a blog post or on a tv show and just have to get your hands on it? Or if you're anything like me and have ever broken one of your favourite mugs/bowls/etc and need a replacement, then you really need to check this out!

I have already had a bunch of sales because I had exactly what certain people are looking for! I'm going to be using it a lot, and I encourage you guys to try it out!

Thought Shapes goes vintage.

Hey guys, just wanted to say that I've been blown away by your support over the past two months with my sweatshirts over at Thought Shapes! I'm still having a lot of fun with it and have lots of exciting things in the works!

Tomorrow at noon I will be launching a new and temporary section in the shop featuring vintage housewares that I have collected over the years. Last week I spent an entire day purging my closets, drawers and cupboards and shelves and was overwhelmed at just how much stuff I have. It's so unnecessary to have so much, and I thought it would be fun to get it into good homes!

I have been collecting this stuff for as long as I can remember and am pretty bummed to have to part with it but i don't have a choice at this point, I simply don't have the room for it all anymore. There is a tonne of brightly coloured pretty kitschy stuff from the 1950's-1970's and I hope you love it all as much as I do!

On Friday I will be adding a huge vintage clothing section as well and there will be clothes from size x-small to large, and everything is just one of a kind, so once it's gone, it's gone! 

I have also teamed up with my sister Megan who is ridiculously talented in so many ways and will be releasing a bunch of hand-drawn and screen printed sweatshirts like this one of Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights! I'm so happy with the way that it turned out and am so thrilled to share the other ones that she's been working on! There will only be a limited run of each sweatshirt available, and I'll be sharing more info on these in the next couple of weeks!

Since Parenthood (one of the best shows on television in my opinion) is coming to an end, I whipped up this little number the other night and after reading all of your wonderful comments I decided to make a bunch to sell! If you are interested, go to Thought Shapes' Instagram and check it out!

Shop Life.

So most of you probably know, but some of you still might not, but we are closing the doors to Rhymes With Orange in just under 3 weeks! It's so bittersweet, we have grown so much and learned even more in the past three years, but it really is time to move forward. 

That said, our partner Doug is officially out of the picture and we have the entire space to ourselves for the last month! We are putting new stuff out (and a lot of it!) every day and today we put out a huge batch of housewares that we had in storage. It's kind of exciting having the whole space to fill and we are cleaning and putting up Christmas decorations and re-doing our displays like maniacs, but it's starting to look really wonderful in here. Because Doug is gone that means that the majority of our men's section is gone, but we have saved up a few really great wool and plaid button ups. 

Everything in the shop is buy one get one 50% off!

We also just added a very large section of things that are only $10 a piece.

We are open every day from 11:00-6:00 and closed on Sundays. Come find us at 223 McDermot Ave and take advantage of our sales and get stuff while you can!

For those of you worried that you won't be able to shop from us anymore, not to worry! We will be launching a new online shop in January, as well as doing monthly pop up shops in our studio! We will be posting more information about that in the coming weeks. Who doesn't like to shop with a glass of wine and some cheese in their hand? 

We're suckers for mismatched vintage mugs, and these ones are now in the shop and selling for $5 a pop! 

This beautiful turquoise set of France glasses are $24 for the set of 4. 

This amazing cocktail (or shall we say cock-a-doodle-do) set with roosters on it is in mint shape and only $28 for the set of 6. 

These new brass necklaces are on our shelves and are the perfect stocking stuffer! They sell for $20-$25. The ones with letters come in two different lengths and we still have most letters left.

Well friends, it's been a busy couple of days over here and I'm excited to announce that I launched my new online shop today and I'd love for you to check it out. There are still a few weeks until Christmas, and let me tell you, they are so cozy and would make a great gift!

They are made of 50%cotton and 50% polyester with iron on letters. They are extremely comfortable and machine-washable!
