Guest post by Jenny of Frecklewonder!

Hi there, lovelies! Jenny here from Frecklewonder to share a few pretty picks for fall. You may or may not know, but I just retired from 10 years of blogging earlier this month. But when sweet Stef + Erin asked me if I'd be interested in popping in during their vacation, of course I was so happy to do so! We just so happen to share a love for all things vintage and I've never been known to turn down an opportunity to share the love for vintage!! My friend Alix and I did a weekly round up over the summer called The Retro Rainbow, where we selected a color for each week and "shopped" our own collections to share on our blogs, Frecklewonder and Modern Kiddo. If you're a fan of vintage, take a peek! I hope you enjoy these treasures I found while poking around on Etsy
.
How about this beautiful wool cape? I just love it. Add your favorite jeans and tall boots and *ding ding ding* you've got a winner!
Who doesn't love a vintage carpet bag?! I think they're just perfect for fall. Paired with a 50s beaded cardigan and a plaid skirt? Yes ma'am!
Lately I've had a thing for these 40s Scotty dog pins. Where it came from, I don't know! I've never even had a Scotty dog. This one is makes a perfect fall accessory, pinned on your denim jacket or vintage cardigan for ultimate cute.
These bright yellow clip ons make for a happy little pop of color, don't you think? I personally think clip on earrings are THE STUFF and you should have one in every color! They're too fun. (they're also easy to find and usually really inexpensive = win, win!)
My son plays violin so of course I was immediately taken with this lovely violin print skirt.
And last but certainly not least, I'm smitten with these his & hers slippers! And they're just in time for chilly mornings. Getting out of bed to make that cup of tea just got a whole lot easier.

Thank you so much Jenny for helping us out with such a cute guest post while we're away! We are seriously bummed to hear that Frecklewonder will be no more, but we have no doubt that we will still be frequently bumping into Jenny on the wonderful world wide web! XO

Guest post by Sophie of Her Library Adventures!

Hi Oh So Lovely Vintage readers, it’s Sophie here from Her Library Adventures.  I’m so delighted that Stef and Erin have invited me over today to share with you a little vintage inspired DIY I put together to jazz up some plain coasters for your next dinner party! Here’s how I made them..
What You’ll Need:  2 to 4 round coasters (I found these at my local K-Mart) and an vintage image or icon you would like to trace onto your coaster.  I chose this lovely retro flower motif from a vintage placemat I recently thrifted.  You will also need, white acrylic paint, a paint brush, permanent markers in a variety of colours,  Mod Podge, a piece of tracing paper, a pencil and an eraser.

Step 1 & 2: Paint a thin layer of white paint on each coaster and then set them aside to dry.   Once they are dry, add one to two more layers so they are well covered. Again set aside to dry.

While the coasters are drying, you can set to work on creating a stencil for your image.  Feel free to draw something free hand but this works well if you would like a specific image.

Step 3. Trace around the desired image onto the tracing paper.
Step 4. Once you have traced around the image, flip it over and gently rub the pencil on the back leaving a fine lead film (this will create the imprint for your drawing).

Step 5. Flip the drawing back over and place it gently onto your coaster (make sure the coaster is completely dry first). Trace around the outline of your image carefully, ensuring you don’t press down too hard.
Step 6. Take the tracing paper away and you will be left with a fine imprint of your desired image.

Steps 7 & 8.  Using the colours of the original image as inspiration, take a selection of permanent markers and colour in your image.  (Of course you can paint it if you like, however I found that permanent markers were much quicker and easier to use.)

Step 9. Set aside to dry for about five minutes and then add 1 to 2 thin coats of Mod Podge to seal the image. Use the mod podge sparingly and try to work in the coloured area and then the white area to avoid the marker running. Once dry, your vintage inspired coasters are ready to use.

Make them in different colours or add names or initials for a personal touch.  Set your table with a vintage twist and you are ready for your next retro inspired dinner party.

Thanks so much to Stef and Erin for having me today! You can pop over to my blog, Her Library Adventures to check out more fun and simple DIYs for you and your home.

Much Love
Sophie

Guest post from Thursday of My Girl Thursday!

Hello everyone! My name is Thursday.  I'm the kind of girl that likes to stay up late, eat too much junk food and thrift shop way, way too much.  I'm also the girl behind the blog My Girl Thursday.
I thought I'd stop in to say hello while the ladies are away on my dream vacation/business trip.  I brought some cookies to eat to fill in those awkward silences that happen whenever I meet someone new.  But hey, I think they could serve as a pretty sweet Halloween party favour too.
Seriously, does anything smell better than a bunch of gingerbread men getting baked in the oven?  I think not.  I used the recipe I found over at Joy of Baking, but I have to admit that it's not my favourite.  If you have a secret family formula tucked away in your recipe box I would go with that.
Once your men have cooled their horses you can fill your piping bag with your favourite icing (or you can cheat like I did and grab a tube from the baking aisle at the grocery store) and carefully decorate with your preferred skeleton design.  I went for a rather cutesy version but you can opt for a more Dia de los Muertos version if you're feeling ambitious/talented.  That Mummy is pretty rad too!

Thank you so much to the Oh So Lovely ladies for having me here today.  I had so much fun baking and decorating these cookies for you all.  Less fun trying to convince my toddler that we should eat something other than gingerbread men at every single meal.

Happy baking!

*Thank you so much Thursday for the amazing Halloween cookie tutorial! We can't wait to get back and test it out! It was a pleasure having you on our blog! xo

Guest post by Katie of Skunkboy Creatures!

Hello, Oh So Lovely readers!  My name is Katie and I run a little blog called Skunkboy Creatures.  Usually my world is mostly made up of handmade plush animals, pretty vintage dresses, fun outfit posts, and lots of love from my sweet little girls, but today I decided that what I'd like to share is a playlist.  I love to make new playlists with the turn of every season (and then some), so here is my Autumn nights playlist:

Thanks, Stef and Erin for having me and thank you so much for reading (and listening)!!
Happy Autumn!  xoxo Katie

*Thanks so much Katie, it was an honor having you on our blog today! We totally downloaded the playlist for our trip too, so thanks a bunch! xo
