Why we're excited for the holidays!

Seeing as how it's December tomorrow (crazy!) we thought we would dedicate this Friday's post to things that we're looking forward to this holiday season!
1. Trying out some new recipes to give as gifts this season.
This caramel peanut butter fudge is one recipe we're going to have to try.

2. Curling up with a favorite holiday movie. These are some of our favorites!

3. Decorating! We love Rachel from Smile & Wave's collection of vintage ornaments, and can't wait to pull ours up from our basements and decorate our trees as well as the rest of our homes!

4. Doing some holiday baking and trying not to eat it all along the way!
These sugar cookies look picture perfect!

5. After the tree is up, and the cookies are out of the oven, there's nothing like getting cozy!
We love throwing on a favorite hoodie, some sweats and a trusty old pair of slippers!

What are you guys most looking forward to in December?

Vintage boots.

We are both on the hunt for new boots for Winter. It's hard to find boots for our extreme Winters. We do have actual practical Winter boots covered, but we are in the market for everyday boots that we can just slip on, that won't get destroyed by our crazy salted streets. Naturally we turn to vintage boots because they are already worn in and aren't all new and shiny.

It's navy, baby!

This cozy navy heart sweater is perfect for fall!

How amazing is this photograph of  boy scouts in navy uniforms found in the New York Times in 1964? It looks like the original cast of Moonrise Kingdom!

This adorable navy caravan makes us miss our Olive!

Such a cute combination of navy stripes with a headscarf wrapped around a bun!

And last but certainly not least, we are head-over-heels for this gorgeous navy scalloped dress.

Sixties style icon: Jean Shrimpton

When we think of 1960's style icons Jean Shrimpton is definitely one of the first names that comes to mind. Her natural beauty and effortless style is always so inspiring. We can't get enough of her cute bangs, big 60's hair, and amazing dresses!

Jean Shrimpton was born in England and broke out into the modeling scene in 1960 at age 17. Soon after that she began appearing on covers of big magazines like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Vanity Fair. She quickly became known as "the most popular model," "the most photographed face in the world," and most importantly "the face of the 60's."

Here is a little fun fact for you: Jean helped launch the mini skirt into popularity in 1965 by arriving in Melbourne wearing a dress with hem that was a whopping 10 cm above her knee! (Pretty shocking for the time!) That's just another reason why we are featuring Jean Shrimpton as our style icon on this Sixties Sunday!
Love this strapless high-waisted bathing suit! So cute!

Paper Love Stationery.

College student and aspiring graphic designer, who opened an Etsy shop to share my modern paper goods that I design, assemble, print & ship from my {tiny} home office in New Jersey. I always had a love for creating pretty things, but I never gravitated to one specific interest...until I discovered my love for graphic design and paper goods. I opened my shop to share the items I create with others in hopes that they love them as much as I loved making them. I am very pleased with the direction my shop is going in, and I can not wait for what the future has in store for my shop! Some random bits about me: I love coffee, sushi, chapstick, movies & adventures. Harry Potter & Optimus Prime are my heroes!
You can go check out her links here:
Want to win this lovely Christmas card set? All you need to do to enter is go and check out the Paper Love Stationery shop and tell us which your favorite design!

We are total suckers for anything cat related, and these wooden cat clothes pins are no exception.

This navy coat with a peter pan collar is what dreams are made of.

I wish we knew how to knit because if we did we would make this adorable scalloped knit clutch!

The store front of this vintage shop in Amsterdam is nothing short of incredible.

Pretty sure I need this pair of 1960's turquoise glass pendant lamps for my house.

The cutest gingerbread cookies ever we ever did see! Perfect for the holidays!

Hope you all have a lovely weeknd!
(and a fun Black Friday to all of our American friends!)

Polka dots galore!

Happy Tuesday friends! We had a bit of an interesting weekend due to a break in at our shop on Sunday night. Some idiot just smashed our front window, but luckily didn't take anything, so it could have been a lot worse! We were still pretty bummed about it though. In better news, we are currently taking photos and measurements of clothes for our new online shop! We will be launching it this Thursday, so keep your eyes peeled! If you love polka dots, peter pan collars and all things cute, you're gonna love the new shop! On that note, here are some pretty adorable polka dots to start your day!

The best cookies ever.

A few weeks ago I was checking out Pinterest when I stumbled upon this recipe for Nutella-Stuffed Brown Butter + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies and as soon as I read the title I knew that it would be an instant favorite... and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I have already made several batches, so I decided to share the recipe with you lovelies today!

(original recipe written by Monique and found on www.ambitiouskitchen.com)

What you need:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-1 1/4 teaspoons of baking soda
-1/4 teaspoon of salt
-1 cup of unsalted butter
-1 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
-1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg and 1 egg yolk
-1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
-1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
-1 jar of Nutella, refrigerated
- coarse sea salt

In a bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside. In a sauce pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk it until it starts to brown then remove from heat and let cool.

Once it has cooled, mix the butter and the sugars together with an electric mixer. After it is well blended, mix in the egg, the yolk, and the vanilla extract. Next, slowly add the dry ingredients while continuing to beat on a low speed until just combined. Finally, gently fold in the chocolate chips. Refrigerate dough for at least 2 hours or even over night.

Once the dough has chilled it's time to make the cookies! Start by preheating the oven to 350F. Then scoop out about 1 1/2 teaspoons of dough and roll it into a ball. Next flatten the dough as thin as you can in the palm of your hand. Then place about 1 teaspoon of Nutella in the middle and fold the dough around it and gently form a ball again. Make sure that you are careful that no Nutella seeps out! Place balls on a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and flatten slightly with your hand. Bake cookies for 9-11 minutes, or until they are starting to slightly brown.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. (Mmm... my favorite part!) Let cool and enjoy!

Happy baking!
XO, Stef
