About us.

Oh, hello! We are Stefanie Hiebert & Erin Thiessen and this is our next step towards living out our vintage-filled dream! We are both newlyweds living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and have been co-workers at a local boutique for several years and friends for even longer. We share a love of vintage fashion & home decor, thrifting, and making the world a little bit more lovely! This blog is the first step to making our dream job/life a reality!

We met almost 10 years ago, because of a certain band, but we didn't really become friends until 2008 when Erin hired Stefanie to come and work at Para Mix, a small boutique here in Winnipeg. It sounds cliche, but our friendship really has blossomed over the last couple of years, especially in the last year when we began to dream and scheme up our trailer! Lately we've been spending night and day together and we're starting to finish each other's sentences, and know what the other is going to say before they open their mouth!

We recently launched our Etsy store, but during the next few months we will be focusing on our new baby: our mobile vintage shop in our newly renovated 1956 camper trailer! We will be touring around this summer and making appearances at various festivals across the province. Keep your eyes peeled for our bright orange scalloped trailer; and if you see it, come in and say hello!
Now, here is a little bit more about each of us...

Hello there! I'm Stefanie Hiebert, co-writer of this blog and co-owner of our little mobile shop and vintage boutique, Rhymes With Orange.

I am completely obsessed with the lifestyle & culture of previous eras and have spent pretty much my entire life researching and collecting various treasures. Recently my passion has moved more specifically onto the atomic era, and I am completely head over heels for anything from the 1950's & 1960's.

Here are a few of my personal favorite things from around my home:
Like any vintage lover, my heart has a soft spot for Pyrex. I already have a pretty substantial collection, that I feel won’t stop growing any time soon. I also love atomic planters & lamps and I have plenty of teak wall art hanging from my turquoise & peach walls. (You will soon discover that turquoise is my favorite color and a re-occurring theme throughout our blog/trailer!)

As far as fashion goes,  I am a huge sucker for 1950’s sun dresses and anything with a peter pan collar or scalloped trim. I have also been sewing since I was a little girl, and it has been a dream of mine to one day sew my own vintage-inspired clothing!

I also don’t live in my little time capsule home alone, I share it with the love of my life, my husband, Emery Hiebert.

Emery and I started dating back in 2003, while I was still in highschool. We met on a blind date, and immediately hit it off, and have been together ever since! So I guess you could say that he is my highschool sweetheart! He works as an audio engineer and is definitely the most inspiring and hard working person that I know. He totally shares my love of vintage and is always there to listen to old records with me and lend a hand with my (many) renovation projects. He also shares my obsession with vintage camper trailers! Infact, we are the proud owners of a 1959 Shasta Airflyte that we are in the process of restoring so that one day we can take it camping all over the states!

We got engaged on September 6th, 2009 (you can read our whole engagement story here) and on June 7th, 2009 I became the happiest lady in the world when we officially tied the knot!
You can look at photos from the most magical day of my life in this post:
Mr. & Mrs. Hiebert - Our Wedding! If photos aren't enough, you can also take a peek at our Super 8 Wedding Video!

After our wedding we hopped on a plane and went on a three and a half week long honeymoon in Europe, where we traveled around to France, Spain, Italy and Malta. It was truly a magical time and I can't wait to have many more adventures together in the future!

Why hello! I am the other half of this blog, as well as our mobile shop, Olive!
Just like Stef, I too am kind of obsessed with anything having to do with the 1950's & 1960's.
I began thrifting and collecting when I was in highschool, and it seems to have had a snowball effect on my entire life these days!

Here are a few of my favorite gems in my home:
If you would step into my house, the first thing you would notice would be color, and lots of it! Anyone that knows me, knows that I love all things orange. My home, which is the second floor of an old character home, is filled with chartreuse walls, many pops of orange-y red, and lots and lots of plastic flowers. My collection of them is almost embarrassing  but I have no green thumb whatsoever, so the collection will continue to grow (no pun intended). I have something with a tulip base in almost every room, and a lot of kitschy knick knacks.

If you stepped into my closet, (which you could because I turned the second bedroom into my closet!) you would see bright colors and loads of prints! From polka dots and stripes to quirky prints from the 60's, my wardrobe contains a majority of fun party dresses.

I share my lovely home with my adorable but not-so-friendly cat Gargamel, and my wonderful husband Derek Thiessen.
Derek and I began dating in the summer of 2005. We saw each other at a Metric & Hot Hot Heat show in 2003, crushed from a distance, and then were introduced 2 years later at Club Regent, a casino here in Winnipeg, where I went almost every Monday with a large group of friends for Bingo! We recognized each other from across the table, and I guess you could say the rest is history!
He does technical support for a cable/internet company and is currently working on getting our new baby-a 1973 Datsun 240z, on the road. He is the most patient, supportive and loving man that I know, and I am so lucky to call him mine! I wouldn't necessarily say he shares my love of vintage, but he is more than happy to look the other way when I haul home yet another lamp, pyrex bowl, or whatever else caught my eye that day!

On August 21, 2010 Derek and I tied the knot! We really truly had the best day ever...
We waited until it the dead of winter to hop a plane for our three week long honeymoon to Thailand, and Bali. We spent the days basking in the sun, island hopping, stuffing ourselves with fresh fruit, and swaying in our hammocks! We had such an amazing getaway and can't wait to go on many more trips together!

That's all for now lovely friends! I hope you enjoy our blog!

Love love,
Stefanie & Erin
