Ok so we're cheating a little bit with this post seeing as how Drive-In restaurants became popular in the fifties, but they were still going strong in the sixties, so we're saying it counts as a Sixties Sunday post!
I bet Lutz's Drive In was the place to be back in the day!

I absolutely love this! When I was reading i immediately thought of the Red Rabbit, a vintage drive in restaurant up near Harrisburg, PA. My family used to stop all the time when I was a kid and the place is still up and running today. I found a cool blog feature on it at http://www.retroroadmap.com/2010/05/21/the-red-rabbit-drive-in-a-drivin-destination-in-duncannon-pa/. Thanks for the awesome photos!
ReplyDeleteAll of these pics are making me crave a milk shake! :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happened to these....why did they die!?! We need to spark a mid century culture come-back ;)
ReplyDeleteThat Sky View Drive In sign is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteGotta represent Top Notch here in Austin...it's the drive-in they go to in Dazed & Confused, and it's still going strong :) http://www.topnotchaustin.com/ Love their sign.
