Time to get outta this town.

We are going...

Yesterday started out as a bad day. Stef and I got to work and were feeling a little down in the dumps. Naturally we got to talking about going back to Asia for business and we decided spur of the moment to book it! My brother Mike is now a travel agent over at Bonaventure Travel and was super helpful in getting us great flights, and we couldn't be more excited!

We have both always wanted to go to Tokyo and have never had enough time to leave the Narita airport in past trips, so we planned a layover for a few days to explore!

Our plan right now is to spend a few days in Tokyo and then head back to Bangkok, and after that we will have a week to go wherever we please! This is the fun part, the planning and dreaming and scheming! This time around, we are going to pack as light as physically possible and take way more photos!

Have any of you been to Tokyo before? We are looking for suggestions for places to eat/sleep/shop/see and if you have any pointers, please leave us a comment below!

  3. I've been to Tokyo a few times, and I think the biggest tip I can give would be to simply embrace it. It's one of the more... unique places in Asia and I'm sure you'll notice right away! Before I went, I read up on local customs and the proper ways to show respect. It's pretty simple. Have so much fun! I'm jealous!

  9. I have never been to Tokyo, but we did visit Chiang Mai in Thailand which was STUNNING~ mountainous, beautiful and relaxing. If you have more time to saunter/travel we currently live in Seoul, S. Korea and adore it. Such great shopping, yummy food, and some of the kindest people I have ever encountered. Happy travels!!

  12. I love Tokyo and they have the most amazing vintage stuff. Everything is so neat and clean, like everything in Japan! You must go to Harajuku and go down all the little back alley's with amazing vintage stores. My favourite is "Chicago Co-op" and amazing vintage clothes shop in Harajuku, there is also one in Kyoto if you are heading down there with fabulous vintage Kimono and Obi.

  18. I'm so jealous! I spent a month in Japan at the beginning of the year and would give anything to go back. If you are there over a weekend I would head to Yoyogi Park. You will need to go to Harajuku tube station. To warn you the tube station and streets will be packed but it is worth it. All of the trendy teens head to Yoyogi park at the weekend in their best clothes - it should give you a lot of inspiration! If you come out of the tube station, turn left and walk down the street, on the opposite side of the road you will see an alley way full of shops (and probably hundreds of people!). There is also Tokyo's largest Daiso store down that street (the 100 yen shop) which sells pretty much everything you can imagine. I hope that helps.
