I recently gave my bedroom a mini makeover (or make-
under, I suppose.) A few years ago I had painted all of the walls bright turquoise, which I totally loved at the time but after awhile all of the bold walls started to feel a bit overwhelming. (I should also mention that we don't have a particularly large bedroom... there is basically just enough room for our bed and one dresser, that's it.) So we decided to simplify and clean things up a bit with a fresh coat of warm white paint on all of the walls and seriously what a difference! It's like a breath of fresh air! The room is so much brighter and also seems a lot bigger, which is always a bonus! Now just because we opted for an absence of color, doesn't mean that the room is super monotone. We added tons of pretty color by making the bed with an assortment of retro floral pillowcases and pops of green were added throughout with cute potted plants. I also feel that the simplicity of the walls is better for showcasing my mid century lamps and fun kitschy art.
Overall, we are super pleased with our decision to streamline and simplify. The space seems a lot more inviting and it is
so cozy in the soft evening light. Here are a few peeks at some details around our new and improved bedroom:
It's amazing what a difference a simple project like painting a few walls makes! Do you have any fun projects on the go right now?
XO, Stef

I love it s2
LOVE it. I especially love all the plants! We just spring cleaned our bedroom and it's the room left in the house that we really haven't decorated yet since we moved in this year. This was an inspiring post for me!!

Your bedroom looks lovely! We actually just freshened up our bedroom too. I found an amazing mid century dresser at a yard sale last weekend & it inspired me to make some much needed changes. We have a super small bedroom too & I agree - less is more. I only wish I could find some great lamps similar to yours - love them!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteI am currently in the middle of trying to decorate my bedroom. I absolutely love the balance of simplicity and unique details you've accomplished. Thanks for the inspiration!

Nice Tretchikoff print. I just scored one at goodwill last weekend and I love how she looks in the house!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, less is more and keepin' it simple is welcome. Turquoise can also be a dangerous colour ahah! I am so fed up of my red bedroom, I think pastels are the best choice actually, we never find them too intense. The plants add a cozy feel! Well done :)

Love the pillow cases, love how a little paint can change a room :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely, the pared back colours really draw attention to your amazing vintage design objects.
ReplyDeletei love white walls! they are quite calming, simple and clean. i used to love painting crazy colours when i lived at home, but i guess i'm a grown up now? haha. now i want to paint everything!
ReplyDeleteYour make-under is wonderful! I love having potted plants in every room, I think they add a little more life into the room! And books are a must too, I'm just now working on spreading them throughout my room rather than having them all on a shelving unit, I find it looks more purposeful this way and with a little more character. :)
ReplyDeleteI too used to be a fan of super brightly colored walls - painting was always the first thing I did in a new place. Our current apartment is temporary, so we aren't painting this time, and you know what? I kind of like it. It's so much easier to add pops of color with decor than with a giant painting project, and the white walls are quite refreshing. It's kind of nice!
ReplyDeleteSo many projects going on around here at the moment - we're working on putting together some shelving and storage solutions for the kitchen, because it's a tiny one, and we have ever so much kitchen equipment!
This looks great! Very cozy & homey.

It all looks so relaxing! The plant and lamp in the 2nd picture are perfection :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely room! While I love color I have always somehow found light walls the best solution. There's somehow so much more space and light, plus it is so easy to change the color scheme with some little things.

This is nudging me to actually pay some loving attention to my room decor, I've gotten so behind with it recently! I love how you've seemed to create "vintage minimalist" in your bedroom!
