What Stef's been up to lately.

Spring is here and the snow is almost completely melted, and I couldn't be happier! I am already feeling more motivated and inspired to tackle projects that I have been putting off for months! I've already knocked a few things off of my to-do list and can't wait to get started on the rest. Here is a little peek at what I've been up to over the last couple weeks:

I had my family down to our place for Easter dinner this year which consisted of a lot of seafood, a lot of wine, and a lot of good conversation. We were lucky that it was even nice enough for us to have a quick dip in the hot tub in my backyard afterwards! Mmm... evening hot tubs in the chilly weather really are the best.

I've mentioned this before but my little bro, Dan, is getting married this summer! He has been on the hunt for a wedding venue with his fiance, Stacey, and Erin and I offered up our studio space as a possible ceremony location. They immediately fell in love with the space, but unfortunately I don't think it will be quite big enough to accommodate all of their guests. It would definitely be a pretty awesome spot for other wedding related activities though. (I totally wish we had this space when I was planning my wedding!)

I bought this print at Urban Outfitters like a million years ago, but it's still one of my favorites. I have been doing a bit of re-organizing and more spring cleaning in my house over the last little while and have been finding new homes for some of my favorite pieces.

My dryer broke a few weeks ago and when it did it also managed to destroy all of my bedding too. I know that sounds super upsetting, but really it just gave me the perfect excuse to buy new sheets! (Yay!) I am really liking how this yellow and white striped set is brightening up my bedroom just in time for spring.

I feel like I've been pretty M.I.A. in my kitchen for the past several months, but lately I have been trying to make up for that. I've been enjoying trying out new recipes as well as making some old favorites.

What about you guys? What have you been up to lately?
XO, Stef

Happy Friday!

A few pretty things to end your week with:

I can't believe that it snowed again yesterday, so needless to say I wish I was here.

This is my dream hair. About once a month I get tempted to just go for it and dye my hair white blonde, but it has yet to happen.

I can't decide what I like more; the turquoise chairs, the light fixture, or the over-sized leaf centerpiece. All together they make for a pretty darn cute dining room.

Cucumber infused gin and grapefruit fizz; the perfect cocktail to jumpstart your weekend!
Recipe found here.

Absolutely love the look of this blueprint style print.

Hope you have a great weekend, friends! XO

Green thumb.

We can't wait to fill our new studio with plants! Stef will definitely be in charge of taking care of any and all plant-life in the space seeing as how I kill everything in sight. There's a really great blog post over here about good indoor plants if you want names of plants and instructions on how to care for them if you're as hopeless as me!
This plant is perfection, as is the beautiful macramé hanger that you can buy here.

Love the look of this corner plant in a bright pot.

This is such a funny-looking plant, but I'm really into it!

I want a bunch of these chinese money plants for the new space. How amazing, hey? Photo from this lovely ladies' Instagram.

Snake plants are a must! Mostly because they look great and are almost impossible to kill!

A simple cactus and a few succulents will also be thrown into the mix.

Studio things.

As we announced yesterday, we got our keys to our studio space! Woo! So naturally we have already been busy planning color schemes and doing a little bit of online window shopping (and of course some actual shopping as well!) Our plan is to keep the walls white and add pops of color with some fun pieces of furniture! So far we have been really attracted to minty blues, pinky peach, and coral tones. We want the space to having a clean relaxing feel that we will feel inspired to work in. Here are a few pieces that we have been dreaming about (and may have already purchased!)

Studio update.

Sorry for the radio silence on these parts, but we've been so busy this past week, but it's been for a good reason: we are happy to announce that we finally got the keys to our new studio! That combined with all of our Easter gatherings, we didn't have a whole lot of extra time kicking around. We can hardly wait until we can paint, and move the rest of our stuff in, but until then we will give you a sneak peek into our new space.

We are on the third floor and it overlooks our first store on Albert St! The amazing natural light and original hardwood floors are what sold us the second that we walked in the door. There's so much potential in this space!

First things first, we took a trip to Ikea and stocked up on the necessities: good shelving, cozy area rugs, fun chairs, and wine glasses of course.

Here's a peek at some of the colors we will be incorporating into the new space. Lots of white, but also lots of color. These pieces were all from Ikea and we are absolutely in love with them!

We left our door open and immediately made a few new friends, including this sassy cat- Princess Cardamom, who also answers to Chicken. There's also a three-legged cat named Tom that is somewhat of a wanderer in the building.

Ok, that's all for now, sorry again for not posting much in the last week, but not to worry, we have SO many exciting things that we will be announcing and doing over the next few months and we can hardly wait to share them with you guys!

Good things on Good Friday.

We can't believe it's already Good Friday! April is whizzing past and it still doesn't feel much like Spring around these parts. We hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend. Ok, now back to my bowl of mini eggs for breakfast...
How pretty are these colors?

Pineapple crush. Good looking drink with a cute name. Find the recipe here.

Nothing lasts forever, not even Winter.

I absolutely love these drop chairs.

Such a pretty Instagram picture.

Homemade Easter treats.

Instead of just buying the usual mini chocolate eggs this season, if you are feeling ambitious why not try baking some of your own Easter treats? Here are a few recipes that will satisfy your sweet tooth that we have been dying to try:

Not only is this grapefruit custard pie pretty to look at, but it also sounds so unique and delicious (and is also gluten free.)

Whoa. Salted Caramel Cups. I didn't know these existed but I can already tell that they will be my new favorite.

Continuing on the salted caramel theme, these Salted Caramel Blackberry Brownies look pretty darn incredible. That sounds like a very interesting flavor combination.

Obviously anything filled with Nutella is a winner.  Get the recipe for these yummy looking Nutella stuffed doughnuts here.

This recipe for Big Bad Carrot Cake with Orange Cream Cheese Frosting seems like the perfect spring dessert.

Happy baking! XO

Make Time.

Our lovely friend Jasmine from Make Time Products here in Winnipeg was extremely generous and sent us some of her home-made skin products a few weeks back. They are all raw and organic products and feel so fresh and amazing on your skin!
We got to sample the "Lip Time" which smells like peppermint and feels so great on your lips. We also got a jar of the "Tea Time" which is a raw organic matcha green tea facial mask. You apply the mask, and then keep it on your face for 30 minutes and then wipe away with a warm, wet cloth. It detoxifies your skin and fights acne.

Face Time is a raw organic face moisturizer and was our favorite of the products we got to use. It smells like peppermint and makes your skin feel silky smooth! You don't need to apply much and it's also really great as make up primer. It's antibacterial, fights acne and helps fade scars too. We will definitely be buying more of this when it runs out!

Sugar Time is a raw organic body scrub that smells so good you're going to want to dip a spoon into it! It's made with organic cane sugar, coconut oil, vanilla extract, peppermint oil and vitamin E.
Bring this stuff into the shower with you and give yourself a good scrub down and it will keep your skin feeling like butter.

How cute is her packaging?

You can shop other amazing products from Make Time over here. Honey Time, and Coffee Time look so good too! If you live in Winnipeg, you can place an order and they will deliver to your door!

We are completely in love with these products, and love supporting fellow creative people who are passionate about what they do!

Vietnamese grilled pork noodle bowls

Vietnamese BBQ Pork Noodle Bowls
(original recipe found here)

I love cooking Asian food, and when I came across this recipe I knew that it would be come a staple in our home, and I was right. It's cheap and easy to make, it's healthy and it's delicious. What more could you want?

Ingredients:

Marinade:
1 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp garlic
3 shallots
3 stalks of lemongrass
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp fish sauce
1 1/2 tbsp oil

Sauce:
3 limes juiced
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp garlic
4 tbsp fish sauce

Noodle bowl:
1 pack of thin pieces of pork shoulder
Rice vermicelli noodles
1 cucumber (cut into thin strips)
Bean sprouts
Fresh basil, mint and cilantro (as much as you like-I used a lot)
Instructions:
The first thing you do is put the garlic, shallots, lemongrass and brown sugar in a food processor and pulse for 30 seconds. Next add the dark soy sauce, oil, pepper and fish sauce and pulse until mixed. Place the pork in a ziploc bag with this marinade and let marinate for 6-10 hours.

Next, light your BBQ and while it's heating up, cook the rice noodles and then prep all of your herbs and veggies. Place the pork directly on the grill and cook for approximately 7-10 min. While that's cooking, you can make the sauce for the noodle bowls, simply whisk the ingredients together. Once the meat is cooked, slice it into strips and build your noodle bowls. Top with peanuts if you like, and grab some chopsticks and dig in! The best part of this meal was the bbq'ed pork. It's so crispy and delicious and would be amazing in so many other dishes!

Friday love.

It's Friday, the sun is shining, the snow is melting and we couldn't be happier! I hope you all are having a lovely end to your week as well! Here are a few pretty things to brighten your day up even more:

Are you guys as excited as we are that Mad Men is starting this weekend?! Yay! This adorable vintage-inspired cocktail recipe via 100 Layer Cake would be the perfect beverage for the occasion.

Messy hair, magazines, & coffee in bed. Best way to spend the morning.

The Notebook is always a guilty pleasure of mine, and this pretty print with a quote from the movie is too good.

This fruit tart looks too beautiful to eat. Recipe found here.

I cannot wait until it is warm enough to bust out my jean shorts again. Soon.

 Happy Friday! XOXO
