Costume closet.

We most likely won't be dressing up this year seeing as how we're in Bangkok, but we thought we'd share some really adorable costumes, for both children and grown-ups!
Happy Halloween lovelies! xo

Guest post from Thursday of My Girl Thursday!

Hello everyone! My name is Thursday.  I'm the kind of girl that likes to stay up late, eat too much junk food and thrift shop way, way too much.  I'm also the girl behind the blog My Girl Thursday.
I thought I'd stop in to say hello while the ladies are away on my dream vacation/business trip.  I brought some cookies to eat to fill in those awkward silences that happen whenever I meet someone new.  But hey, I think they could serve as a pretty sweet Halloween party favour too.
Seriously, does anything smell better than a bunch of gingerbread men getting baked in the oven?  I think not.  I used the recipe I found over at Joy of Baking, but I have to admit that it's not my favourite.  If you have a secret family formula tucked away in your recipe box I would go with that.
Once your men have cooled their horses you can fill your piping bag with your favourite icing (or you can cheat like I did and grab a tube from the baking aisle at the grocery store) and carefully decorate with your preferred skeleton design.  I went for a rather cutesy version but you can opt for a more Dia de los Muertos version if you're feeling ambitious/talented.  That Mummy is pretty rad too!

Thank you so much to the Oh So Lovely ladies for having me here today.  I had so much fun baking and decorating these cookies for you all.  Less fun trying to convince my toddler that we should eat something other than gingerbread men at every single meal.

Happy baking!

*Thank you so much Thursday for the amazing Halloween cookie tutorial! We can't wait to get back and test it out! It was a pleasure having you on our blog! xo

Last call!

If you are interested in sponsoring Oh So Lovely for the month of November it's not too late! We still have room for a few more large and small ads! November is going to be a very exciting and busy time for us because we will be getting possession of our new store, renovating it, and opening its doors for the very first time, so you can expect lots of fun before & after photos of that process! We will also be sharing many photos from our trip to Asia, as well as teaching some fun D.I.Y. tutorials! If you would like some more information on our sponsorship rates click here. We look forward to working with you!

Guest post by Katie of Skunkboy Creatures!

Hello, Oh So Lovely readers!  My name is Katie and I run a little blog called Skunkboy Creatures.  Usually my world is mostly made up of handmade plush animals, pretty vintage dresses, fun outfit posts, and lots of love from my sweet little girls, but today I decided that what I'd like to share is a playlist.  I love to make new playlists with the turn of every season (and then some), so here is my Autumn nights playlist:

Thanks, Stef and Erin for having me and thank you so much for reading (and listening)!!
Happy Autumn!  xoxo Katie

*Thanks so much Katie, it was an honor having you on our blog today! We totally downloaded the playlist for our trip too, so thanks a bunch! xo

We're in...

...
We just picked up our copies of the Fall issue of Winnipeg's finest-Sandbox magazine, partially because we're in it! Remember that photoshoot that we told you about a couple of weeks back? It took place at "Tinkertown" which is an amusement park for little kids, that both Stef and I went to when we were little! It was definitely one of the best shoots we've had to date! We got to eat cotton candy, jump on a crazy giant ball, ride the train and walk around before the park opened, in pretty vintage dresses!

Click the last two photos to see a larger version!
We pretended to make lemonade in this giant lemon which reminded us of the frozen banana stand on Arrested Development!

It truly was such a fun day and we were so tickled that we got to be in Sandbox!

Jet settin'!

Ahhh I can't believe we're leaving for Bangkok in the morning!!! We are beyond excited! Erin has been to Asia before, but this will be my first time so I am extra pumped! The flood waters still haven't subsided there yet, so say a little prayer that everything goes smoothly because we have a LOT to do! Not to worry though... we won't be ignoring our lovely readers here in blogland! We will be updating our blog while we're away and we also have a lot of exciting guest posts arranged!

Stay tuned for more updates on our travel adventures!

Love love love,
Stef & Erin

Fall forest photoshoot sneak peek!

Last weekend we did a magical photoshoot in the woods with a whole whack of talented ladies and were very lucky to have Rosie of Simply Rosie Photography capture the festivities! Here is a tiny sneak peek from the shoot! Isn't the pup - Meiko such a cutie?

We also captured the following behind-the-scenes shots with our iPhones:

Of course an outdoor photoshoot wouldn't be complete without our lovely little Olive!  The goal of the photoshoot was to create an inviting, cozy, outdoor fall setting for a bachelorette party! How cute! So we all put our heads together and brought along some of our favorite vintage props!
Here is a closer look at just a few of 'em..

...a pile o' vintage pillows...
...turquoise melmac dishes full of pretty sprinkles...

...cute retro pop bottles...

...and mini cakes that we got to decorate courtesy of Jenna of Jenna Rae Cakes!

What a great day! We had the best time hanging out with all of those talented ladies and we are so excited to share the rest of the photos! There will be lots more where these came from!

3 days 3 days 3 days!

We opted to skip sixties Sunday for today because we have too much on our minds! Bangkok is quickly approaching! Stef and I leave on Wednesday morning and we can hardly wait! Right now Stef is basking in the sun in Phoenix and I am in Grand Forks, ND for a family reunion, so it's a pre-holiday to our big holiday (ahem business trip). Here's a little list of some things I would like to bring along with me this time around!

DIY Magnetic Instagram Frames.

Hey lovelies! I don't know about you guys, but we are totally addicted to Instagram! (Feel free to follow us! Our user names are: ohsolovelystef & ohsolovelyerin) We love taking fun little snapshots of our days and sharing them with friends! However, the only downside to always taking pictures with our phones is that we rarely get photos developed anymore! How sad! So we decided that we should do something about that!
Lately we've stumbled upon some websites that develop Instagram photos and put them into cute little albums or make them into magnets, but we thought it would be fun to try to do something at home! So we came up with this fun little DIY project that puts your Instagram photos to good use!
Here's what you will need:
-photo paper and a printer that works well for printing photos
-a pair of scissors or a utility knife (whichever you prefer for cutting)
-a roll of magnetic paper
-a cutting board
-a pencil
-a ruler
First of all, I downloaded all of my photos onto my computer and set up a page in Photoshop with  9 photos per page (3 rows x 3 columns) If you wanted your photos to be bigger or smaller you could do 2 rows x 2 columns or even 4 rows x 4 columns. Then I printed them off onto photo paper and carefully cut them all out.
After you are done cutting out all of your photos, place them onto the white side of the magnetic paper and decide how big you want your frame to be. I made my frames about 1 cm on every side and a little bit bigger on the bottom so that they have more or a Polaroid look.
Next, you're going to draw a square on the inside of the frame you just drew. You can make this as big or as small as you want it to be, it just depends how thick you want your frame to be. I decided to keep my frame pretty thin, as you can see.
Now you're ready to cut! You can use a ruler and a utility knife if you aren't very confident with cutting straight with scissors. After you finish cutting out both squares you have yourself a frame template! So to save some time, use this as a stencil for the other frames so that you don't have to waste time measuring each one individually! After you are finished tracing and cutting the desired amount of frames, you should have something that looks like this...
What a quick and easy way to display your Instagram photos!
Have fun personalizing your fridge! I know we did!
