Vintage motel signs in the desert.

While I was in Arizona I noticed a lot of amazing vintage motel signs! Since this is a secret guilty pleasure of ours, I couldn't help but snap a few photos! They just don't make signs like this anymore! Some of the motels have closed down but some are still open for business today.

What we wouldn't give to have stayed in any of these during their mid-century prime!

60's Airline outfits.

We wish we could have been flight attendants in 1965, they got to wear the brightest, mod outfits!
We love a little style in the aisle!

Emilio Pucci designed this serving jacket.

This cape is so stunning!

And yes, that plane is smiling!

Check out that jumpsuit in the back!

Happy happy weekend!

This week went by even more quickly than the last!
We're both back from our holidays and that means back to work and back to reality.
This also means it's time to get cracking with Olive's renovations and our Etsy store! Keep your eyes peeled!

Speaking of Olive, we're in the process of picking out possible retro wallpaper!

Adorable watermelon hearts are getting us in the mood for summer!
We love to freeze them and blend them with pink lemonade!

We love getting mail! Beautiful prints and a lovely mousepad arrived this week!

The lovely ladies of Freshair celebrated their 1st birthday this week!
We love this photo of our friend Nikaela Peters taken by another one of our talented friends-Tristan Fast, for the salon for Spring!

Florida dance dance! If our friend Lauren & Matt's awesome video doesn't get you dancing, nothing will!

Update of where we are: Thailand/Bali/Arizona!

We have a busy few months ahead of us, with the launch of our Etsy store around the corner and working on getting our trailer ready for this spring. We are glad we took some time to relax and recharge during the winter! Here is quick update of what our February has looked like so far:

Erin: in Thailand! Stef: in Arizona!
A typical meal for Erin:
Chicken satay with rice and spicy peanut sauce followed by a lemon shake, of course!
A typical meal for Stef:
Fresh picked citrus & grapefruit margaritas, accompanied by handmade mexican enchiladas!
Erin's wildlife sighting:
Playing with the vicious monkeys at the monkey forest sanctuary in Ubud, Bali.
Stef's wildlife sighting:
Less animals, more shops! Arizona is a gold mine for vintage treasures.
Erin's exotic setting:
Floating away many days in Ubud, Bali at the most beautiful resort, Komaneka Bisma.
Stef's exotic setting:
Relaxing outside in the setting desert sun,
listening to the best of the 60's.
Erin's relaxing moment:
Watching the early morning surfers at
Kuta Beach in Bali.
Stef's relaxing moment:
Waking up to the morning sunshine and the cheery Americana decor on the lanai.

The end of the plain plane. (Part 3)

The final chapter of our 3 part Alexander Girard special!

Braniff International Airlines existed from 1928-1982.
Alex was hired in 1965 to re-design every aspect of Braniff.

He started with the logo: the "braniff dove logo"

There were seven paint colors used to paint the planes.

"Jellybean 707's"

Emilio Pucci designed the attendant uniforms.
So mod and space-like!
The "space bubble" was made to keep the hostesses dry in the rain!

Girard designed over 17,000 items for Braniff, right down to the packets of sugar,
and decks of playing cards!
He worked together with Herman Miller designing all of the interiors of the planes

We can't imagine what it would have been like to fly in the 60's, especially with an airline like Braniff!
Female passengers received roses, and steaks were cooked to order, it almost sounds too good to be true!
We would have chosen Braniff, all thanks to Alexander Girard's bright colors and little details.
